What Is Noise Pollution And Why To Measure

Noise Testing
  • Noise pollution is an unwanted sound that impacts the health of humans and other living organisms. The noise emanating from the industries, especially the high-intensity testing chambers is considered highly hazardous for the cleaning staff members, technicians, workers and supervisors. To understand the limitation imposed on noise, let’s first understand what are the essential units require to measure the noise. Noise is measured in ‘decibel’ the ‘A’ in dB (A) stands for the frequency weighting in the measurement of noise; this frequency corresponds to frequency response characteristics of the human ear.
Noise Testing
  • The impact of such noise pollutions largely depends on the exposure level and duration of the exposure. The testing helps in determining the level of noise that is been generated in the work places, it helps the employers take necessary actions to protect the workers against noise hazards.

Noise level Testing and Monitoring

Noise Testing
  • Continuous exposure to industrial noise affects the hearing ability of a person, but, there is a lot that meet the eyes. The prolonged exposure can cause health hazards that are beyond the hearing ailments, like stress, fatigue, productivity losses, tinnitus and cardiovascular diseases. Understanding the gravity of its consequences, we have check for noise levels of the following industries:
  • Mining
  • Commercial construction (demolition and equipment)
  • Road Construction
  • Military
  • Industrial Manufacturing: such as metal fabrication, open air automated production lines, maintenance areas
  • Oil and Gas and downstream refineries – ATEX and IECEx approval
  • Urban areas

Noise Level Testing Standards

  • Continuous exposure to high levels of noise at the workplace can be unhealthy for the employees working in your industry. To check if the noise levels to which you and your staff are exposed to is safe, it is mandatory for you to undergo a comprehensive noise testing procedure that monitors the noise of emanating from your industry.
Anacon Laboratories perform the following noise testing solutions for noise from machinery, buildings, appliances, and equipment for water supply installations. Further, we also test for the sound pressure and power emitted by noise sources like:
  • Electrical and electronic equipment
  • Automotive industry material
  • Sound sources
  • Building equipment

Ambient Noise Level Testing Standards

Ambient level testing is carried out within the industrial zone at ambient conditions. (e.g. Near the canteen, near the Main Gate, premises of manufacturing plant etc.) The acceptable noise limit at day time is < 75 dB and < 70 dB during the night.

In-plant Noise level Testing Standards

As the name suggests, in-plant noise level checks for the noise emanated inside the plant. As per Central Pollution Control Board (as per Factory act 1948) Limits for In-plant Noise level is < 90 dB.
